This one was our first song that really expressed our dislike for our jobs… and how we dealt with our frustrations.

Back in the day, Michael was working long hours as a sales professional for the furniture department of a large company. Working 10 hour days with a 1-hour commute each way. Usually 6 days per week.

Michael was a seasoned pro and was so good at helping customers find just what they were looking for. And, he did very well financially due to his skills and personality. That corporate environment was very stressful. Always needing to meet his sales goals. And, having to adapt to, and put up with store managers looking to make a name for themself.

On more than one occasion he told me he was drinking way more than he should. Then, not being able to get a restful sleep. We used to talk about taking our wives and running away to a tropical island. I remember Michael saying that he would run away, but he’d have to be back for work on Monday.

So, I think Michael did an excellent job of capturing his frustrations in this songs’ lyrics. And, the bluesy vibe of the music really creates a story of this most stressful time in his life.
